“None of the stuff matters. My dad was just there. He was the most THERE person ever.”
Wow!!! One of the best phrases I’ve ever heard…comes from my favorite TV show called, “This Is Us.” Again, WOW!!!
What I’ve realized over the years as a husband and a father is that presence trumps stuff every time. My presence is powerful because I’m the only one who can provide it. I just want to be present, I want to just be the most THERE person ever. Sometimes we can get it twisted into thinking that we need to get there in order to be there but I believe if we decide to just be there we will get there. Don’t wait to get to where you want to be there… you’ll miss all of the THERE moments in your attempt to get there. I know, lots of “there’s” but stay with me. “None of the stuff matters.” Love is not developed by the presents you give but by the presence you provide. The simplicity of this is why it’s overlooked — this world would be a little bit better if we decide to be THERE… for each other.
I want my wife and my children to always look back and say, “He was THERE for me.” I’m the only one who can provide my presence. They’ll remember your presence but may not remember the stuff — stuff is temporary but presence… THERE, stays with you forever! I’m choosing to capture my moments because success is relative — I don’t want to waste time getting there at the cost of being THERE.
Are you getting there or choosing to be there?
